THE CLEAN UP

By: Linda Kirby/WGON

God did not wait for us to "clean up our act" first, to make progress on our own and somehow turn ourselves to him. But instead, he magnified his love for us by sending his Son to die for us while we were yet in our sins. Romans 5:8-- But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Haven’twe all heard the lost say, “Well, I’ll have to clean up my act before I go to the Lord.” I don’t know why they think they can clean themselves of sin. If they could, then Jesus didn’t need to die on the cross. There is nothing we can do to make ourselves clean, sinless, or worthy. We are all sinners, saved by grace. Jesus paid the price for us so we won’t spend eternity in hell. You can not do anything like that for yourself. Ephesians 2:8--For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Take that gift, if you are not born again of Christ Jesus. Take his gift because it’s a matter of life and death. “...anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire”(Rev. 20:15). The scriptures tell us that Jesus is the ONLY way that anyone can be saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). So this means that all those without Christ will be destined to suffer endless torment in the unquenchable flames of Hell forever, and ever, “...into the fire that never shall be quenched” (Mark 9:43). Time is running out. You can’t save yourself, only accepting Jesus will do that.
