Daily Inspirational Encouragement

By: Linda Kirby/WGON

It’s that time of year when we give thanks for all the blessings the Lord has given us. Of all God’s gifts, the greatest one is the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. On the cross of Calvary, Jesus paid the debt of our sin so that a holy and just Judge could forgive us of our sins and give us eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). No matter how or why the holiday of Thanksgiving was begun, the point is that we should always give thanks to our God for His many blessings -- those we enjoy in this life, and those we will enjoy in the next (The gift of eternal life in heaven). The act of thanksgiving is a way of recognizing the faithfulness and blessings of God in our lives – it is a way to take time to humble ourselves before God and one another. This year, as we gather to feast with families and friends, let's remember to celebrate the greatest blessing of all: The free gift of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
