WALK THE WALK
By: Linda Kirby/WGON

Daniel Webster once said: “Whatever makes men good Christians; makes them good citizens.” The world might not understand that reasoning, but it’s really simple. Christians who walk the Christian walk will not lie, cheat, murder, etc. -- thus making a good citizen. Let’s take that a step further. When Christians make a good citizen, it will also make a good nation; and, in turn, a good world. "It’s good to be a Christian and know it, but it’s better to be a Christian and show it," someone once said. This is what Jesus Himself meant by us being the salt and the light of the world. We show the world how to live, which will make each person’s life better. "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16). Many Christians believe if they go to the altar and are saved, they can go on living the same life as before. How can you be salt and light if you haven’t changed? Look at the world now! Too many Christians have walked the worldly walk and not enough are walking with Jesus. Don’t just talk the talk; the world needs you. So, let’s walk the Christian walk and change the world.
