WHAT MAKES A GOOD CHRISTIAN FRIEND
By: excerpts from Blair Parke with Linda Kirby’s last two sentences

“A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity” (Prov. 17:17).
Genuine Christian friendships employ the need to love others as Jesus Christ loved us, displaying to our friends authentic love that comes from the example of our Savior. These five characteristics represent the authenticity of Christian friendships that we all want to have but, may not know how to cultivate. Be Willing to Pray for Them … and Actually Do It. “Therefore, comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing” (1 Thess. 5:11). Don’t View Prayer Requests as Reasons to Gossip. Psalm 133:1, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Offer Grace as God Gives Us Grace. Romans 10:12 “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.” Always Be Ready to Welcome a New Friend into the Group. Proverbs 27:17“as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Don’t Be Afraid of Honesty. “Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses” (Prov. 27:5-6).When you find a friend like this or a group of friends like this, you are so blessed. Few people are this blessed. But, remember, you too much be this type of friend.
