MA man arrested for threatening to kill President Trump

A Great Barrington, Massachusetts man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly posting threats against President Donald Trump on Facebook over a three-month period in 2025. Andrew D. Emerald, 45, was indicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications. He was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and is scheduled to appear in federal court in Springfield at 2:30 p.m.

According to the indictment, between May and July 2025, Emerald made a series of posts threatening to injure or kill the president. Prosecutors allege the messages were deliberate attempts to intimidate. Examples cited in court include:

“When I see to it that Trump is put to death. It will be the the (sic) day the purpose creation put me here for beyond creating. My daughter is fulfilled. (because what she is destined to do for the world is far greater than mine, taking out the orange menace!)” – May 3, 2025

“Oh, I’m not just watching!! Either Trump is dead and in the ground by 2026 or I am hunting him down and putting him there. Do you hear that FBI and any other organization that wants to show up at my f*cking door? Put the enemy of the United States in a f*cking body bag or I will.” – May 13, 2025

“Trump either you’re dead by 2026 or I’m coming for you personally and if I’m the one that kills you, you’re gonna suffer you little f*cking b*tch.” – July 7, 2025

Other posts cited in the indictment included threats to burn down Mar-a-Lago, hang Trump from the Statue of Liberty, and carry out “execution” for alleged crimes.

The federal charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine up to $250,000. Sentencing would be determined by a federal judge under US Sentencing Guidelines.

US Attorney Leah B. Foley and FBI Boston Special Agent in Charge Ted E. Docks announced the arrest, noting the investigation received support from the US Secret Service, U Postal Inspection Service, and the Great Barrington Police Department. Assistant US Attorney Steven H. Breslow of the Springfield Branch Office is prosecuting the case.
