'Not to my knowledge': Ilhan Omar can't say 'no' when asked if she married her brother

Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar, when asked in a recent interview if there is a "kernel of truth" of whether or not she married her brother in order to get him a green card, she answered, "not to my knowledge" instead of outright denying the claim.
Omar was speaking to MS NOW's Chris Hayes when he asked the lawmaker about her thoughts on how President Donald Trump and others have claimed that she did marry her brother. Omar is currently under investigation regarding her immigration status as well as her finances. It has been reported that the claim that she married her brother to get him a green card is also part of that federal investigation.
"[Trump] will tweet, 'Ilhan Omar, she married her brother. Blah blah.' You think you see that, you think yourself, boy that sounds odd. It seems unlikely that she married her brother ... When did they start saying that he was your brother?"
Omar replied, claiming that it was a "Somali blog" that initially made the claim about her marrying her brother. She added, "Right-wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it, and they just kind of went and found random people who were like, 'She introduced us, you know. She introduced him to us and said he was her brother,' which is, you know, insane."
Hayes followed up, asking if she was related to him at all, and said, "There's not some weird kernel of truth?'
Omar replied, "Not to my knowledge."
The two then discussed how she has also faced allegations that she was not a minor when she became a US citizen with her father. Omar has claimed that she was 17 at the time that she became a citizen, and her father filed the papers as such. However, there have also been allegations that she was 18 at the time and would not have been able to be automatically naturalized with her father. That portion has also been reportedly under investigation by the Trump administration.
The discussion between the two takes place after her home was raided earlier this month by Department of Homeland Security officials. They have also reportedly obtained DNA evidence regarding allegations that she married her brother.
It was also revealed this week in court records that Omar's name on the warrant to raid her house was "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi."
Elmi is the surname of the man who people claim to be her brother that she married in 2009.
