Members of People of Provo Against ICE (POPAI), a left-wing extremist group in Utah, discussed killing conservatives and their children during an October meeting. An audio recording of the conversation was published by The Cougar Chronicle, a conservative outlet ran by Brigham Young Univeristy students but not affiliated with the college.

The recording stemmed from a POPAI meeting held in early October. During the discussion, one participant complained about capitalism, prompting a female participant to suggest killing everyone.

“You just can’t get away from capitalism,” one person said.

“Unless we kill everybody,” the female replied.

The conversation then turned to killing the “one percent.” One man estimated that there were approximately “500 people” they “need” to kill before the female participant added, “you also have to kill their children.”

“We need to do that for all the evil people,” she said.

A man then called for targeting politicians, specifically referring to politicians and billionaires and saying, “Those f*ckers gotta go.” He said that under his ideal future, ordinary conservatives such as MAGA supporters need to have “re-education” for the “possibility of reintegration” into society.

The recording follows previous reporting by The Cougar Chronicle about the group’s violent rhetoric. In August, the outlet reported that participants at a POPAI meeting praised USPS postage stamps that had the phrases “kill Trump” and “shoot Trump" written on them. Members called the stickers "sick af" and "cool."

The communist group is known for organizing anti-ICE protests in Utah and is committed toc "working to stop ICE activity in Provo through any legal means." It has also drawn attention because David Chappell, the Democratic nominee for Utah House District 62, is a verified member of POPAI. Chappell has regularly attended meetings and protests.

The remarks add to the heightened political tensions in the state of Utah, where Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated last year at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter, is awaiting trial in connection with Kirk’s killing.
