THROUGH THE STORM

By: Linda Kirby/WGON

Life is filled with storms. Some storms are mild and some are hurricanes. Some are brief and others are long lasting. Storms in our lives are trials we go through that strengthen us or wakens us. Some move us from point A to point B. But, all are God’s plan for us. We recall the account of the apostle Paul in his shipwreck in Acts 27: 20. They had lost all hope because the storm had been a monster and tossed the boat around breaking it up as it was tossed. They became so fearful, they knew they would die. As we continue to read the account, we find an angel came to Paul and told him fear not, they would all be saved because he had an appointment with Caesar as God had promised. ( v. 23,24) The point is, that fierce storm that battered their ship to the point of breaking up, causing fear to over take even Paul, couldn’t keep God’s promise from coming to fruition. God has promised us he will be with us through the storm. (Isaiah 41:10) “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” God promises to bring good from the storms of devastation in our lives. (Jeremiah 29:11) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God keeps His promises; He will be there for you all the way, to protect and provide for you. He will mold you through these storms so at the end you come out better than when you went in. So, when the storm hits, no matter how fierce it is, keep your eyes on Him and remember His promise to you: ( Duet. 31:6 ) “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
