We often think of interruptions, delays, or unexpected conversations as random. But there is no such thing as chance or coincidence. God is in control of all things. Every moment is either a whisper or a trumpet from the Lord—a stepping stone laid by His hand to guide us into purpose.
Whether it's a word we’re meant to speak, a place we’re meant to avoid, or a person we’re meant to bless, God is always planting—guiding us even when we’re unaware. He plans and directs our every word, our every step, for His purposes.
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” —Psalm 37:23
You may be planning to go out and shop, but then something happens that delays your trip. You may never realize that delay was a stepping stone away from disaster.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” —Proverbs 16:9
You might be in the grocery store when a person stops you and starts talking endlessly. You don’t know why you feel such a strong urge to witness to them, but before you know it, you’ve gently shared the Good News. You might not know that person was in real need of hearing it—but God knew. That’s why He laid stepping stones for that person to encounter you. That’s why you felt compelled to speak.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” —Ephesians 2:10
So when your day shifts unexpectedly, pause. Ask: Is this a stepping stone? Because what feels like a detour may be divine direction. What seems like coincidence may be covenant. And what interrupts your plans may be the Lord’s invitation to walk in His.
