Trump says US will lift sanctions on Turkey

President Trump announced Tuesday the U.S. will lift sanctions on Turkey.
Trump made the announcement to reporters when he landed in Ankara for a NATO summit.
"The time has come. We will do it, said Trump, as reported by news media in Turkey.
His announcement was in response to a question about him considering whether to allow Turkey back into a program in which the U.S. sells F-35-fighter jets to other countries.
"We will make a decision on the F-35 issue," Trump said. "Our relationship is very good right now."
The sanctions, or economic penalties, were imposed through a 2017 federal law known as the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.
